That’s a Wrap (Rut)!

Happy Saturday FitFeat friends!!

I was just downloading the pics of yesterday’s food so I could start this post and yesterday morning seems like SUCH a long time agoDo you ever have days like that?  The ones that feel like 3 days happened in a 24-hr period? 

My apologies for the late post today – we’ve had an insanely busy day from the minute we got up this morning and this is the first I’ve even seen my PC!

I hope you all had a fab Friday!  Mine was very nice – we decided to sleep in an extra hour instead of getting up for weight training.  We got to bed later than usual due to MSP’s softball game, so it felt good to make up the hour in the morning.  I did still do my leg workout, just later in the morning and unfortunately without my training partner.  🙂

But first I needed some pre-workout fuel!  Some java and oatmeal with my favorite add-ins (raisins, almond milk, cinnamon, agave nectar and some crumbled Coconut Cream Pie Larabar).  I kid you not, this is heaven in a bowl!

About an hour afterward it was time for some Leg & Shoulder Weight Training:

  • TM Warmup 5 minutes
  • Smith-Machine Squats 4 working sets of 15, 15, 12, 12 reps
  • Upright Rows 4 working sets of 15, 15, 12, 12 reps
  • Calf Raises 3 working sets of 30 reps each
  • Explosive Lunges 3 sets of 20 reps
  • Overhead Rear Delts w/ Tubing (“stick-em-ups”) 3 sets of 15 resp
  • Dance Break 🙂  during Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love”  (for some songs you just have to drop the dumbbells and get your boogie on)
  • Snow Angels w/ ValSlides 3 sets of 20
  • All-Angle Shoulders (crazy 8s) 3 sets of what adds up to 40 reps per shoulder, 8 reps for each angle)

It was a great workout – I was good and beat afterward.  And definitely ready for my post-workout green smoothie!  Water, spinach, red chard, kale, 1 pear, 1 banana, 1 kiwi, sprouts, 1/2 a cucumber.  I meant to add rice protein powder and spaced it.

At lunch I continued in my WRAP RUT!  But they’re SO good that I’ve just been wanting one every day!  Whole wheat tortilla, smeared with Tofutti, sprinkled with pepitas & sesame seeds, then topped with red chard, sprouts, avocado and slices of heirloom tomatoes.  OH – SO – TASTY!!

I had a couple of the Immaculate Cookie Co cookies for dessert.  🙂

To celebrate it being Friday and to celebrate the opening of a new Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill much much closer to our house, we went to pick up a hummus & falafel bowl.  I ate half of my bowl shown here, stuffed into a pita and saved the rest for Saturday lunch.

A few hours later, because the hungry bug is still biting this week, a small bowl of Mom’s Best Naturals cereal topped with unsweetened almond milk.  I knew this would fill up my tank for the mileage I’d be doing in the morning.

I can’t believe it’s already 3:15 – this day has absolutely flown by.  We have a few more errands to run and a birthday shindig to attend this evening.  I’m gonna go grab a book and park myself on the couch for 30 minutes to slow myself down for a while. 

What’s your favorite way to unwind when you need to bring the RPM’s down a few notches?  I’d like to say that mine is yoga or meditation, but it’s not.  I have a really tough time quieting my mind for meditation.  So my favorite is a bubble bath WITH a book.  But I’ll also take a book without the bath if need be.
